Up, Up, and Away!

Thank you, Jesus! Things are looking up! Upstairs that is. We are thankful that the second floor is finally framed out, but there is no roof, yet. We can actually see where each room is going to be and a glimpse into what the actual house will look like in the future. Last Thursday, the framers were working then ran out of materials. So, the builder went to the lumber supply company and took care of the materials issue. Then, it started. It started raining, and raining, and raining. Yes, again! Since last Friday. Needless to say, there has been no work accomplished on the frame since last Thursday. Today, is the first day that it has been sunny since last week. I'm hoping they are out there working on the roof today, but it just depends on how muddy the driveway/road is to the house site. There are a few pictures on here with some more of the framing completed. Hopefully, next time I post, I can say that we have roof. : )

So, the pictures totally didn't load from yesterday's post for some reason, so I'm loading them again so that everyone can see the progress!

Stairway to Heaven?

Well, maybe not truly a stairway to Heaven, but to us, it feels close. The last couple of weeks have been really good weeks. The framing is coming along like a boss! The first floor is nearly finished, with the second floor not far behind. Now, in saying all of this, it has been raining, AGAIN, this morning. The trusses for the house were delivered on Friday and put up on Friday so that they could start on the 2nd floor. The framers came back on Saturday to put in the stairs in the foyer. We have one more set of stairs that need to be put in, also. We felt it was safe to put in two different staircases, so there would be two different ways to get downstairs in case there is some sort of emergency. I'm excited to see what this house will look like completely framed. Our construction friend made sure to warn us that the framing will go really quickly, then it will seem like things just stop. He said that's when they are working on plumbing and electric. I told him that as long as I see wires sticking out and some mess in the floor, I will know progess is being made.

Now, on to see what this week brings. And if Luke can stop roaring at his school friends  and making them cry, I'll have to say that would be a pretty perfect week.

I think I can! I think I can!

The past week has been like a scene out of the book "The Little Engine That Could". Since the foundation was finally laid, things have been moving very quickly. So, it's been a "good" week. No bad or ugly right now. The only bad/crazy part of this week has been Luke standing in the middle of the grocery store, pulling his pants down, and singing, "Look at my booty! Look at my booty!" Yep, he sure did do that.

The framers came out Thursday around noon and started building the walls. By Friday, they had most of the rooms framed in and began to put plywood around the frame. We actually have a structure there now. As we were walking around yesterday, we started getting excited because, now, we can actually picture where things are going to be. It feels a little crazy that this is actually becoming a reality. There have been several bumps in the road that felt like we weren't going to be able to get over, but again, that mentality of "I think I can" had to come into play. It will be interesting to watch them add the second floor!

Today, Travis is taking me to look at a few houses that our builder has done on Lake Jacksonville. He wants me to see some of the things that they have put on the outside of their homes. I think it will be fun, but I'm going to be honest, I have my mind set on certain things, so hopefully, I can be a little open minded on some of the ideas. We also had our minds set on our master bathroom, and then, I found another piece of granite that I liked better, so I meet with the interior designer this coming Friday to change some things up a little. So my mind can change, but we will see. :)

God has been so good to us, even through the craziness, He always shines through!!!
